This group of people were fit/athletic, but they were gymnasts, unlike Robert (from the last shoot) who is into weight lifting/body building. All are fit and muscular, but in much different ways.

This is from a completely different shoot. I was helping a friend in the studio and as payment I told him I wanted to put down a few frames of his model. These are quite different from what he was doing, check out his graphic novel inspired series here…

All of the above images were shot on my Mamiya RB67. The first round were shot on Kodak T-Max 100. The last shot was actually FujiChrome that I converted to Black and White. It looked nice in color, but I wanted black and white. There are more, but like the title implies, this is a preview…

Yesterday afternoon, I took a little walk with my Speed Graphic 4×5 camera and some Polaroid type 55 film. I have never had any luck with it, but felt like this was my day, and in many ways it was (i actually got some images). Hit the link to see and read more…

The above image was solarized somehow when I took it out of the development sleeve. The print was fine, but the lower-half of the negative got reversed by the sun.

The last two were fine and not reversed in any way, go figure…I like the way that the chemistry spreads somewhat un-evenly across the negative and blends the tones/shapes of the image together. This is especially noticeable on the left of the above image and in the sky of the leading photo. Again, the prints came out fine, but the negatives, which I scanned and am presenting here, have some interesting quirks.

Not everything came out, I had three or four shots that didn’t work at all *sigh* The developing chemical didn’t spread much at all, technical failure, or something else. I guess that’s the price you pay for working with a dead and expired film stock. At about $4-a-pop mistakes are expensive with this system. I plan on shooting quite a bit more Polaroid this summer so stay tuned for the results. Also if you have any 4×5 Polaroid film kicking around and want to donate it to the cause (or a monetary  donation to fund more), I will be eternally grateful and provide you with a custom print of your choice…

As the name of this post might imply, the following are a series of detail shots taken recently at a British car rally in Prescott, Ariz. All are shot in the Mamiya RB67 with either FujiChrome Provia or Fuji Acros 100. I’m not sure of what each car is, so if you know tell me in the comments…

The air intakes. I had shot a few more cars, but lost a few images to technical failure. This yellow car had such exotic lines and an obviously bright color, I spent several frames on it.

I liked the lines and color palette in this shot. A bit of a learning curve on this new camera (this was only my second roll through it). If anyone out there knows the Mamiya RB67, you can appreciate what a beast it is. These are all shot handheld with a 2-stop ND filter.

On to some black and white grills and engine details. This is a Morgan, but the model is unknown.

The badge is visible on this Jaguar, but I don’t know the model.

Obviously an MG motor. I believe it was an MGA.

Next time I will take better notes on what I am shooting. This time I was more interested in seeing compositionally and trying to figure out the Mamiya.

Back for an almost unprecedented second post in one day. This time to share a shot from my other new friend, the Mamiya RB67. I have put several rolls through this bad-boy, some of which you have seen here. After two weeks, I finally got my FujiChrome back from the lab (more to come tomorrow). In the mean time enjoy this detail of a stand up bass some one had in downtown Prescott a few weeks ago.

Just a quick post to show an image from the first roll out of my Vivitar 35ca, a nice little rangefinder I have had for some time, but have not shot with. I have wanted something a little smaller and more inconspicuous for my carry around camera, and a rangefinder seemed like the perfect solution. This is shot on Kodak T-Max 100, pushed to 400. In the photo is Aaron working the kitchen line at Macy’s Coffee Shop. More to come in the nearish future…

Another quick post,  somewhat similar to my last post, but oh so different…While the lighting is the same, the model is different; and perhaps more importantly the camera is new. This is the first frame I shot on my new (at least to me) Mamiya RB67 Pro-SD. Super excited to explore the possibilities with this new piece of gear. Gotta love the 6×7 negative and 180mm lens. Shot on Fuji Acros with three ProFoto D1 heads.

Just another quick post…I was in the studio the other day and helping this person with lights, cameras, meters etc. I had her stand in for a minute so I could put a frame or two down on the Hasselblad with the digital back attached. A while back I posted about trying to get away from high-key stuff . And I have to some extent; however, like any addict I just can’t stay away for too long…
