Parks Wells

Tom Carter walks past a partially-full cattle tank near his Parks, Ariz. home Friday afternoon. Some residents use the pools of standing water to gauge the state of the shallow water-bearing zones underground that feed many of the domestic wells in the area. These groundwater zones respond quickly to climate events, drying out during periods of drought and recharging with snowmelt or major rainfall.
