After a week or two off of blogging it is time, my loyal friends and followers, for more new content from me, your humble narrator. In the past few weeks I have been busy shooting and processing Ragnar Relay: Northwest Passage. You can see some photos on my blog here. But that’s not all, as promised in my last post, and as foreshadowed in the picture above, I have new and exciting content to share…hit the link to see more and find out what’s the haps…
Not long ago I had the pleasure of joining a crew from The Travel Channel show “Paranormal Challenge” on location in Jerome, Ariz. at the beautiful and very haunted Jerome Grand Hotel. Normally paranormal/ghost hunting shows are not my cup of tea, I find them kind of boring, mostly I watch Man Vs. Food…However, who am I to say no to hanging out on set for three days while two teams of amateur paranormal investigators comb the facility for evidence of life after death…
The host Zak Bagans, introduces the teams in front of the hotel…
Camera man Rob shoots the scene…previous experience shooting behind the scenes/production stills for Royal Enfield Motorcycles at Jay Leno’s Garage definitely helped me land this gig, the photos from that job are still circulating internationally in the vast Royal Enfield community…just search for them…
Team one (or maybe two, actually I think the were color coded…)
The other team…they were almost always told to look very serious or mad, although I did take some pics of them smiling, I won’t post them here.
Now to see a little of the location…
The tape outline is where a maintenance worker was decapitated by the elevator, they found him laying there (the shaft is pictured in the background and mechanical equipment to the right).
Someone hung themselves off this pipe (now this guys office) X marks the spot.
staircase with creepy painting
I won’t say what the teams did or did not find, I don’t want to scoop the show and ruin any of the spine tingling action for everyone else…However, I did find this green splotch which could be ectoplasm or a ghost materializing…I initially thought it was just a lens flare, but sequential shots at the same and similar focal lengths from the same and similar angles don’t have the same green patches, nor is it linear like most lens-flares and it happens in a very specific area…just infront of the table and to the left, not to the right and not further down the hall like a lens-flare might tend to do…be sure to click on this image to see it larger and sound off in the comments as to what you think…I will also say that upon entering this room I felt totally weird and creeped out, maybe nothing, but maybe…
Shooting “Hero Shots” with some of the crew
the teams about to learn what gear they will be working with during the investigation…
Judges deliberating
It was a really tough decision…but I can’t spoil it, you will just have to watch for it some time in October…the show airs Friday nights at 9pm
I took a ton more images, but don’t have the time/motivation to show them all to you, and I don’t want to scoop the producers of the show, just watch it for more info…
This sounds like a dream job! Great shots.
It was quite a bit of fun…and day with a camera in my hand is a good day!
Great layout of images Taylor! Thanks for posting these for everyone. Looking forward to the show on the 16th! Cheers sir.
