I have been playing with my new Lens Baby Muse for a few days now and have another round of images for all of you to see…

Today, I received a new Lens Baby, Muse. (Thanks to Uncle Tom and Aunt June for the graduation gift) Lens Baby lenses are selective focus lenses for your SLR camera. Basically, they are cheap, fun tilt-shift lenses; great for experimental and art photography. Excited to play with my new toy, I headed out on a walk with My-Friend-Bob-Smith-Who-Lives-Downstairs, his girl friend Megan and their dog J.B. One thing I love about shooting a Nikon is that they never changed their lens mounting system (shame Canon), so all the old school fixed/manual lenses kicking around still work with my digital body. This week I have been playing with a 55mm f/3.5 micro lens. It can focus on objects as close as about 2” and at f/3.5 the depth of field is razor thin but also very sharp (if i can hold the camera steady enough). It is a lot of fun to look at the world on such a tiny scale and to see compositions all around me. There is very little technical data to provide for these images as they are mostly available light so i will just put them out there and not talk too much, continue reading to see a few of my favorite examples. As always, click on the photos to see a slightly larger version.

After lunch I picked up my pack and headed in the direction of the Gold King Mine, which is a little over a mile from Jerome down a small two lane rode. After walking about three-quarters of the way an ATV pulled up and Mike, the operator and Gold King Mine employee offered me a ride to the front gate. In order to gain entry to the event for the weekend there was a $20 per carload entry fee. I showed up on the back of an ATV, I didn’t have a Volkswagen and they didn’t know what to do with me… Please follow the link below to read more

This weekend I had the great pleasure of attending the 20th annual Jerome Jamboree Volkswagen Bus Club camp-out. Held every year at the Gold King Mine just outside Jerome, Ariz. This festival of all things Volkswagen is a three-day party; only cars stamped with a VW logo get in and tie-dye is encouraged. Follow the link below to read the story…
