Discovery Channel Telescope

I promise this blog isn’t dead, I have been quite busy working for the Arizona Daily Sun as well as printing at a traditional black and white darkroom, this has left the ol’ blog on the way back burner for a while…Hopefully this post will be the first of many as i attempt to reboot this site with new content and new ideas. Below are photos I took while on a tour of the Discovery Channel Telescope for an article at the Sun. This was a rare and exciting opportunity to tour this not typically open to the public site. Please check out the following link to read the story written by Eric Betz…

_DSC0858

If you are just seeing this post, please read over the previous post Here…Ok now that we are all on the same page, Ze Going…

I have had the Canon 5dMkIII in my hands for about a week, and so far it is a very serious upgrade from my previous rig. To save room on my home page, please hit the following link to read the rest of the story (sorry for somewhat poor image quality in this post, all were shot on an old D200 (a basically piece of shit camera)… Continue reading

Winter Storm On It’s Way

Flagstaff is supposed to be hit with what could be our first real winter storm this weekend. I drove to the edge of the Mogollon Rim to check out the clouds as they roll into Flagstaff. Although it came close, the sun never broke through the clouds to give a little color to the sunset; however, considering the frigid nature of this storm system, I think I prefer the cold color palette in these photos…

BigZona Burlesque Visits the Monte Vista Hotel

mahoney_20130714_2879A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of interacting with and shooting the always fabulous BigZona Burlesque Troupe. This time we took over the roof the the historic Monte Vista Hotel in downtown Flagstaff, Ariz. The monsoon clouds were just forming and the sun was setting in the west. This is one location in town that isn’t opened to photographers or anyone for that matter, very often, I felt quite privileged to be given the access. Please head over to the bZb Facebook page to see more of the images from this series and the other shoots we have put down..
