Campus Construction Continues

Just shy of one year ago I photographed for a story about construction of the new Science and Health building at Northern Arizona University. I took a tour of the construction site and climbed the several hundred foot tall construction crane for better views of the build. Check out a couple of photos as part of another blog post here…

Construction has completed and the building is ready to take students this fall. As a kind of follow up, I was given a tour of the completed building. Below is a brief photo tour of the very modern looking/feeling Science and Health Building…

Last Week, Mostly…

Keeping the habit going…Here are highlights from a few assignments from last week. I shot a couple more, but they haven’t run in print yet and I guess I shouldn’t scoop my employer…

Some Summer Snaps

Here are a few snaps from a few assignments I have done over the last few months. I will continue working on keeping weekly, but at least monthly updates of my exploits…

Some Recent Prints

Been off the blog train for a while, that’s not to say that I haven’t been shooting, quite the opposite. So far 2015 has been a very busy year, look for additional updates in the coming weeks as I try to get weekly updates going again.

In the mean time, here is a selection of images taken this spring. They are photos of original black and white prints I made in the darkroom, but was somewhat too lazy to actually scan them for the blog. Enjoy…

Holiday Photo Essays

This wasn’t a very busy week in news (at least around Flagstaff) This did however, provide the opportunity to take a little more time with the couple of assignments I did have  and produce short photo essays to accompany them (rather and the more typical one off photo). First off, I looked at the Northern Arizona Law Enforcement Toy Drive. Then on Christmas day, went around with a reporter and talked to people that were traveling by various means over the holiday. Both were interesting ways to spend a day, links to the original stories are here and here…Click the first image to enter the slide show and see captions…

Winding down December

Basketball season is heating up even as the temperatures around Flagstaff drop. With three high schools (six teams) and NAU (two teams), basketball is pretty much non-stop. As such, I have included quite a few shots of that…I also took a tour of a new lumber mill that has opened in Williams, Ariz. (about 30 min. west of Flagstaff). Newpac Fibre is bringing industry jobs to the area, which was formerly a logging king. The photo essay follows basketball…

End of November Begining of December

I’m a Star Now

As you may or may not know, in addition to working for the local Flagstaff newspaper, The Arizona Daily Sun, I spend half my week working in a professional darkroom (yes that’s still a thing) making prints for all sorts of clients. Artists, government agencies and other private individuals are among the people I work with. I have prints that are in the Library of Congress, the JFK Library, hotels, offices as well as galleries and homes all over the country. Specific clients that I do regular printing for include Dan Budnik, Shane Knight, David Brookover, Jerry Jacka and more…

Recently a student at Northern Arizona University, Nick Humphries, approached me to ask if he could do a short documentary project for class about me and what I do photographically. After talking for a while, I suggested that while the newspaper is interesting, he should see what I do at the darkroom. He did, I talked into a microphone about it and below is the finished project. I thought it came out pretty well, enjoy…

Update::There was a slightly updated version of the video that includes a few more photos and a surprise ending featuring surprise stuff.

Another Weekly Update
