In the past few weeks I have been busy shooting and processing Ragnar Relay: Northwest Passage. You can see some photos on my blog here. But that’s not all, as promised in my last post, and as foreshadowed in the picture above, I have new and exciting content to share…hit the link to see more and find out what’s the haps… Continue reading

North West Passage Preview

Last weekend, as those of you who follow this blog and especially those of you who follow me on Twitter know, I shot another Ragnar Relay. This time in the far north west corner of our country, throughout beautiful rural Washington. Between Jerry Forman (my accomplice) and I we shot over 4,000 frames and had a great time. Here are a few of my favorites from my take. I am quite happy with the images I shot of the runners, but many of my favorites were just of the area we explored…(make sure to click the images to see larger versions)

Macro Moments Mit My Moomesa Mates

…Ok so I had to borrow from German for that alliteration, but who cares, meaning is more important than the words anyway…

This weekend I traveled to Oak Creek Canyon, Ariz. and Kingman, Ariz. with my girlfriend Katie. Her parents have a bunch of land outside Kingman, a little ranch called Moomesa. While there, I shot on my macro lens extensively. Spring is in full bloom, flowers are bursting with color and insects are on the prowl. Hit the link to see a bunch of macro style nature shots, as well as other photos from the weekend… Continue reading

Photos I Didn’t Take (preview)

Despite the name of this post I did take these photos, although not intentionally…I carry my camera just about everywhere with me, “never leave home without it” kind of thing. If I am out and about without a camera it makes me feel awkward; forget a smile, you’re never fully dressed without a camera…Not just having a camera, but having it on, exposure set and ready to shoot is quite important, I know that one day a Big-Foot will jump out and I will be  millionaire (maybe). A symptom of this is that the shutter will periodically hit my side, or bump into something and take a photo without my knowledge, it’s a photo I didn’t take…Hit the link to read more and see some examples… Continue reading

Royal Enfield Blog Feature

enfield in la

About two weeks ago I flew out to L.A. to shoot behind the scenes photos for Royal Enfield Motorcycles as their product was featured on Jay Leno’s very popular web series “Jay Leno’s Garage.” For those who don’t know, Jay Leno has a legendary automobile collection. It takes up several buildings and features many unique and one of a kind cars, motorcycles and steam engines. The photos from that day have been taking over the blogosphere and today, Taylor Mahoney Photography was featured on David Blasco’s blog, royalenfields.com. David is the former photo editor of the Miami Herald, and now writes a blog dedicated to his other passion, Royal Enfield Motorcycles. Hit the link  to visit David’s blog and see some of my photos from the shoot, enjoy. Link to davids blog.

For those of you out there who have followed this blog or my photography with some regularity will know that I am a member of thevisualCollective. Our group travels to various locations and produces a bunch of great content. Everyone from photographers and videographers to models, musicians and anyone with the desire for a creative adventure is welcome. We just wrapped our Zion National Park trip, which was amazing and there will be a ton of great stuff to come soon from myself and the other 12 travelers. For me one of my favorite things to do on these trips is to take daily portraits of everyone at camp in the evening. you can see the ones from Death Valley National Park here… Beyond being fun, I hope to document our locations, change in looks i.e. getting dirtier, and just show the group out in the world. They are shot quickly and no one does any real prep for the shoots.

This time around we had a lot more people and a few more days/locations. I will dedicate the rest of this post to photos with a little description. Click the link to see more and be entertained…tvC members feel free to download and use these photos on your facebook, if you have any questions/concerns text me…

something from the archives

I was browsing through a few old image folders on my computer. These three images caught my eye for their use of motion and composition. I was setting up for a different shot, when suddenly there was a decisive moment of peak action when i pressed the shutter and gave 1/60 of a second in time immortality. I liked that they all had something in common and work well together.

Jerome Jamboree Pt. 2

After lunch I picked up my pack and headed in the direction of the Gold King Mine, which is a little over a mile from Jerome down a small two lane rode. After walking about three-quarters of the way an ATV pulled up and Mike, the operator and Gold King Mine employee offered me a ride to the front gate. In order to gain entry to the event for the weekend there was a $20 per carload entry fee. I showed up on the back of an ATV, I didn’t have a Volkswagen and they didn’t know what to do with me… Please follow the link below to read more Continue reading
