Once again I have found a roll (or in this case two) that have until now escaped my careful eye for some reason or another. Sunday Andrew and Matt of The Visual Collective and I had our year-end wrap-up meeting. After a few hours we decided that what was/is the most fun about the whole Visual Collective thing is getting out there and doing stuff. So with that in mind we re-visited our founding roots and the three of us headed out into the wilderness, lights and models in tow to see if we could have some fun and create some nice images…

After sending a roll of color slide film to be developed, I loaded my camera with some plain old silver halide film and shot for the next two afternoons.
I was interested in seeing how I could compose power-lines in the square frame, so began my weekend…

And so I’m back from outer-space and blogging again. Although it has been a while since my last posting, don’t be fooled, I have been busy working on a number of projects; the blog just wasn’t one of them…
Now on to new business. A few weeks ago thevisualCollective and I traveled to the remote and incredibly beautiful Havasupai reservation deep within the Grand Canyon. About a 10-12 mile hike in with all your gear for three days, I decided to go light. I only brought one camera with one lens and a small tripod. The Canon AE-1 with a 28mm fixed lens was the weapon of choice. I shot one roll of Kodak TX-400 (my go to film stock), one roll of Illford SFX 200 (kind of a faux infrared) and several rolls of Fujichrome slide film (one of my new favorites)

Deep in the bowels of my refrigerator…bottom shelf, behind the cheese, next to the plastic heart (yes I keep a plastic heart in my fridge) and around the corner from the un-exposed film stash sat an exposed roll of Kodak 400TX. Forgotten by the pages of time and left in a cryogenic-type stasis, the latent images taken a few months ago on my Kodak Bantam were unearthed this evening…You may remember seeing some other examples from this unique camera a while back, but just in case check them out here. Another roll of 120 from a recent excursion to MooMesa just outside Kingman, Ariz. Shot on my Yashica Mat 124G digitized using my slide-copier style diy film scanner and processed using Nix Software’s Silver Effects 2 photoshop plug in…Hit the link for more silver halide fun…
